Fruits Basket is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. The story revolves around Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who discovers that 13 members of the Sohma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and are cursed to turn into their animal forms. Tohru's interactions with Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Sohma form the core of the narrative, with themes of friendship, family, and self-acceptance. The series was serialized from 1998 to 2006 in the shōjo manga magazine Hana to Yume.
