Basara is a Japanese fantasy manga series written by Yumi Tamura. The story takes place in a future Japan, reduced to a barren desert. The main character is Sarasa, a girl pretending to be her twin brother in order to bring back the country's independence and stop the tyrannical rule of the Empire. The manga was serialized from 1990 to 1998.
